The Lifelong Benefits of Infant Swim Programs

Introducing your little one to the world of swimming is not only a thrilling experience but also a crucial developmental milestone. Premier Swim Academy understands the significance of early aquatic education and offers a comprehensive Parent & Me Infant to Toddler Swimming Program tailored to nurture your child’s water confidence and skills. From the tender age of 4 months to 36 months (about 3 years), our progressive curriculum ensures a seamless transition from water introduction to independent swimming mastery.  In this blog our goal is to share on the importance of swim lessons and give you an idea of what your swimmer will learn in each level.

Tiny Fish: A Gentle Introduction (4-6 months)

At Premier Swim Academy, we believe in starting young. Our Tiny Fish Program is specially crafted to introduce infants aged 4 to 6 months to the aquatic environment gently. Lasting for 20 minutes, these sessions focus on fostering water comfort and instilling basic breath control conditioning. We understand the delicate nature of these young swimmers and tailor the lessons to accommodate their limited abilities, creating a safe and nurturing environment for their aquatic journey. The bonus is you as their parent get to be in the water with them every step of the way.

Little Fish: Building Foundations (7-15 months)

As your little one grows, so does their capacity to explore the wonders of swimming. The Little Fish Program is designed for swimmers aged 7 to 15 months, where they slowly began to learn the swimming techniques such as submersions, turning, and back floats. Our goal is to continue conditioning their breath control while introducing beginner kicking, paddling, underwater turning, and back floats. With the aid of teaching tools like floating noodles and mats, swimmers gradually gain independence in the water, laying a solid foundation for their aquatic future.

Big Fish: Advancing Skills (16-25 months)

Building upon the achievements of the Little Fish program, Big Fish takes swimmers aged 16 to 25 months (about 2 years) to the next level of aquatic proficiency. Here, swimmers further develop their breath control, back floats, and turning skills, meeting key developmental milestones along the way. Introduction to long swims marks a significant milestone, as swimmers begin to navigate independently from the ledge to the parent and back again. With each stroke and kick, they gain confidence and strength, preparing them for greater independence in the water.

Super Fish: Mastering Independence (16-36 months)

In the final stage of our Parent & Me program, Super Fish, swimmers aged 16 to 36 months (about 3 years) refine their skills to achieve complete independence in the water. Building upon the foundation laid in previous levels, they focus on mastering completely independent “Long Swims”, turning to self-rescue, backfloats, and overall water comfort. The objective of this program is to seamlessly transition young swimmers from parent-led lessons to our group learn-to-swim program, where they continue their aquatic journey with confidence and competence.

The Next Step – Group Swim Lessons

At the heart of Premier Swim Academy is our Learn to Swim Program that takes students from Academy 1 to Academy 6. We firmly believe that Group Swim Lessons offer the correct balance of social opportunity, instructional engagement, and physical development for new and former swimmers. Academy Kids climb through our Premier level system, which builds on the fundamentals of safety and leads to competent and competitive strokes to prepare swimmers for future aquatic settings.
